“How Many Times” is the latest visual release from Born I, following the successful release of his single and video “In This Moment”.

“How Many Times” is an visual meditation on the cycle of rebirth and reincarnation. Using color and emotion to tell his story, the video features Born I moving through life and death, crossing into the afterlife with the grim reaper, meditating with deities and rapping in a Buddhist temple. The video also features Born’s wife Ayanna and their daughter Sati, helping Born navigate between worlds. The song, produced by DaRC, provides a haunted, bass heavy soundtrack to the rich visuals, beautifully shot by Jeff Ray and directed by Roy Leschiner.

Some words from Born I: "I’ve been thinking a lot about death and rebirth and this song is a reflection of that. But I’ve also been thinking about how death and rebirth happen within this very life. How many times am I going to make the same mistakes, how many times am I going to fall down and get back up, how many times have I’ve been held up and supported by my family and friends? It’s really a reflection on how life, death and rebirth can happen right now and also what it might mean to die and be born again inwardly and outwardly."

Family Tree is the first video single off of Oakland artist sOuL from the O’s Queens and Pharaohs album - but it almost didn’t happen!

What was supposed to be filmed in Philly, ended up in the Las Vegas desert just a few days before the shoot was to happen.

sOuL from the O would admit, “Good thing we talked a week before the shoot, because Hezekiah mentioned he would be in Vegas instead of Philly. Which was the best mixup because we realized the Las Vegas desert was a better place for the song’s video”

What resulted is a story of sOuL from the O walking through a barren land to receive this letter from this unknown ancestor reminding him of his roots, and his connection to something beyond this realm. The video juxtaposes images of sOuL from the O rapping about his family ties, & a mysterious ancestor placing images of family members in a tree. Eventually the two meet, against the backdrop of desert mountains and a driving piano breakbeat.

The Family Tree video is a testament to the song’s collaborators, sOuL from the O and producer/director Hezekiah’s creative vision, as much as their ability to adapt to last minute changes in landscape - and still make magic! Check it out!

About sOuL from the O

Nobody gave sOuL from the O permission to make his brand of Hip-Hop, and he likes it this way. Sometimes eclectic, sometimes fierce, pounding on the doors of the establishment, he has been on a collision course for expanding the boundaries of Hip-Hop music for some time now. Releasing his first album in the early 2000's, followed by a string of singles, vinyl pressings, EPs and live performances (opening up for the likes of Yasiin Bey being a highlight!) Sometimes performing with his co-collaborator Woodstock on the MPC sampler & other times incorporating live instruments, sOuL from the O is currently on a mission to connect with Hip-Hop heads world wide!

About

Born and raised in Baltimore city, Bloonz Billionfold comes from a eclectic musical background. His Mother, Father, Aunts and Uncles were all in a soul/funk band called the” East Side Funkateers” in the late 70's. In the early 2000's, learning to make beats on a friends MPC he soon became very skillful in Hip-Hop and R&B production. In no time he was buying his own equipment, only to have it all stolen from a local studio. It wasn't until 2015 when Bloonz decided he wanted to make music full time. He then hustled up money for more equipment. Now residing in Atlanta he launched his own multimedia production company. Current projects include a series of the world's 1st "smart" interactive mixtapes, Tha Shortbus Tapes. Bloonz is perhaps one of the most versatile emcees of his day. A founding member of the Durt Bag Crew International Movement, which consists of a collective of producers, writers, designers and like minded individuals, he currently has projects with some of the most "elite" OG emcees in the game.
